Bapa Sitaram Steel Cement Ceramic

Our yard is right on Varachha Road in the Nana Varachha Gam area, very close to the Mota Varachha Bridge. If you know the bridge, you’ve probably seen our stacks of cement bags and steel rods from the road. It’s a dusty place, there’s no way around that when you’re moving construction materials all day long. The trucks come in and out constantly, making a lot of noise and stirring up the air. We handle a mix of things, from heavy steel beams to different kinds of ceramic tiles for floors. It’s a lot of physical work, loading and unloading by hand or with the small crane when we have to. The office is just a small cabin in the corner where we keep the ledger and the phone. It gets pretty hot under the tin roof in the summer months, but we’re used to it by now. We don’t really do any big advertising; people just see our sign near the bridge and stop in when they’re building something nearby. Sometimes the inventory gets a bit mixed up, and we have to spend the whole afternoon counting bags to make sure everything is right. It’s not a glamorous job, but buildings don't get made without these materials. We’ve been part of this landscape for years, watching the traffic grow and the new buildings go up all around us.
