White Hair Saloon

White Hair Saloon is over in Jawahar Nagar in Srinagar. We are just a small neighborhood shop located right here in the community. Srinagar can get very cold in the winter, so we have a small heater that we keep near the chairs to stay warm while we work. The shop is called White Hair Saloon, and it’s a place where people from Jawahar Nagar come when they need a simple haircut. I have been doing this for many years. The interior is quite plain. I have some white tiles on the walls and a couple of large mirrors. The floor is usually covered in bits of hair because I’m often too busy to sweep every five minutes. I use regular scissors and an old set of clippers that haven't failed me yet. People who come here aren't looking for anything stylish or modern; they just want to look tidy. We talk about the local news or the weather while I work. It’s a quiet life most of the time. Sometimes the power goes out, and we have to finish the cut using the light from the door, but my customers are patient. They know I’ve been here a long time. It’s just me and the shop.
