The Smart Cut Salon

Being near DAV School in Jawahar Nagar means we hear the school bell ringing all day long. The shop is on the main road, so it’s easy to find if you’re driving through Srinagar. We get a lot of parents coming in after they drop their kids off, or students who want a quick trim before heading home. The shop isn't very wide, but we’ve managed to fit three chairs inside. I try to keep the mirrors polished so the place looks a bit brighter. We have a small radio that plays the news every hour. It’s a busy road, and sometimes the dust from the traffic is a problem, so I have to wipe the counters down multiple times a day. We don’t have a fancy waiting area, just a couple of plastic stools near the door. My cousin helps me out during the weekends when the rush is more. We’ve been in Jawahar Nagar for a few years now and have gotten to know the families around here. It’s funny how you learn so much about people just by cutting their hair. We don't use any high-tech equipment, just the standard stuff that works. It’s a practical shop for practical people who just want to look a bit neater before they go back to their work or school. We keep things simple and try to get the job done right every single time.
