Naivedyam

Our little place is at No. 1 in Hauz Khas Village. If you’ve been to the village, you know how the streets are narrow and it can get quite packed, especially on the weekends. We’ve been here since before it got really famous with all the boutiques and clubs. It’s a bit of an old-school spot compared to some of our neighbors. The walls have been painted a few times, but you can still tell it’s an older building. We don't have a lot of space, so we have to be very organized with how we store things. The kitchen is compact, but we make it work. Most days it’s just the sound of the pressure cooker and people talking over their plates. We get a mix of people—some students, some old-timers who still live in the village, and a few tourists who look a bit lost. We don't do anything special to get people in. We just keep the door open and wait. Some days are slow, and we just sit and watch the street. Other days, we can barely keep up with the orders. It’s a bit unpredictable, but that’s Delhi for you. We don't promise anything other than a place to sit and some food. We’ve had the same cook for a long time, and he knows how everything should taste. It’s a simple operation, really, and we like it that way despite the occasional noise from the village traffic.
