Amrit Speech & Hearing Clinic

Our clinic is right on the ground floor of Shop Number 7 in Tuda Mandi. If you know Najafgarh, you know how crowded the mandi area gets during the day. We are situated right across from Jyoti Memorial Hospital, so there are always people moving back and forth between the buildings. It’s noisy outside, but we try to keep it a bit quieter inside because we deal with hearing and speech. We have these small booths for testing ears where you have to really concentrate. A lot of parents bring their little kids here because they aren't talking yet, or they're having trouble with their words at school. It’s a lot of repetition, making sounds over and over until they finally stick. We also see older folks who can't hear the TV anymore. We show them the hearing aids and how to change the tiny batteries, which can be a bit of a struggle for shaky fingers. The floor is just plain tile, and we have a water dispenser in the corner that gulps loudly every now and then. There’s usually a stack of old magazines on the table that nobody really reads. We don't have fancy uniforms or a big marketing budget. We just open the shutters in the morning and start the appointments. It’s a very practical job, helping someone hear a bit better or say a new word. It gets busy, and sometimes the schedule gets a bit messy, but we manage to get through it.
