Chandra Prakash Shukla

My office for Chandra Prakash Shukla is at 124 Maharani Bagh right on the Ring Road. It is in Thapar House, which is directly opposite Kalindi. Most people miss the entrance if they are driving too fast on the main road. It is a busy stretch of Delhi and the traffic never seems to stop. Inside, it is a bit quieter. I have been here for a long time. There are books on the shelves and papers on my desk that I need to sort through. It is just me and a couple of people helping out. We don’t have a big corporate setup. It is more of a personal space where we handle things as they come. People stop by when they have a problem or need some advice. I usually sit in the same chair every day. The view of the Ring Road is mostly just cars and the dust from the street. It isn’t a fancy place. The air conditioner makes a bit of a rattling noise but it keeps the room cool enough. I prefer it this way. No one is trying to impress anyone else. We just do the work that needs doing. Sometimes the phone rings all day and other times it is quiet for hours. If you are looking for 124 in Thapar House, just look for the gate across from Kalindi and you will find the way in.
