Sarat Chandra

Sarat Chandra works out of Chamber 147 at the Delhi High Court. It is one of the many lawyers' chambers you will find in this complex. If you have ever been to the High Court, you know it is a maze of hallways and small rooms filled with books and legal papers. Our chamber is no different. It is a functional space where we spend most of our hours researching and preparing things. There isn't much room for extra furniture, so every corner is used for storing files and folders. The atmosphere is always a bit rushed because of the court schedules. You can hear the announcements and people rushing past in the hallway all day long. 147 is just a number on a door, but for us, it is where all the hard work happens. Sarat Chandra is usually here early before the courts even start their sessions. We drink a lot of tea while going through the piles of documents on the table. It is not a polished office with glass walls; it is a working chamber with a lot of history and dust on the shelves. Sometimes the printers act up or the lights flicker, but we just deal with it and keep moving. It is a very specific kind of life working in the Delhi High Court. We are right in the middle of everything, and that is just how the routine goes for everyone in the chamber.
