About Devendra Singh Chauhan – Legal Consultants in South Delhi
Working out of Chamber 160 at the Delhi High Court is a unique experience. As Devendra Singh Chauhan, I spend my days surrounded by law books, legal briefs, and the constant hum of the court. The chamber is one of many in the building, and it’s quite small once you get a few people inside. There are shelves reaching all the way to the ceiling, packed with old records and case files that have been collected over time. The hallways of the High Court are always crowded with lawyers in their black robes, clients looking worried, and clerks carrying massive stacks of paper. It’s a very fast-paced environment. Inside Chamber 160, things are a bit more focused, but the phone never stops ringing. We have a couple of chairs for visitors, but they are usually covered in files. The lighting is that classic office yellow, and there’s always the smell of old paper and ink. Lunch is usually a quick bite brought in or something from the canteen nearby. We don't have time for long breaks. The court schedule dictates everything we do. From early morning filings to late afternoon discussions, the routine is pretty set. It’s a professional atmosphere but very lived-in. You can see the wear on the desk where I’ve been working for years. It’s a place of serious work, but we still manage to share a joke or a cup of tea between the busy sessions.
