Our group is based at Hamida Bibi’s place in Gaspara. It’s a quiet spot near Dharmasala, and if you live around here, you probably know the house. We called ourselves Seuj Biplab Farmer Producer Company Limited. It sounds a bit formal, but we are just locals trying to make sense of the farming business. Most of the time, we are busy talking to the growers in the village about what they are planting this season. Gaspara isn't a huge place, so news travels fast by word of mouth. We don't have a big team or fancy equipment. It’s mostly just us sitting around a table with some tea, looking at lists and trying to coordinate things. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to finish our notes by candlelight. We deal with whatever the farmers bring in. It's a lot of back and forth between here and the market. Some days are slow, especially when it’s raining hard and nobody wants to be out in the mud. But when the weather is good, the whole place is buzzing with activity. We are just trying to keep the local trade going without too much trouble. It is a simple life and the work is steady. If you stop by, you'll likely see us working on the logs or checking the sacks. It's not glamorous, but it's how we make a living. We keep things pretty honest and simple here.
