We are Pabhoi Min Udyog Farmer Producer Company Limited, located at house number 46 in Pabhoi village. Our main point of contact is Biren Bhagawati, who is the son of Bholanath Bhagawati. If you know the Sonitpur area, you probably know our village. We mostly deal with fish and general farming around here. It is not a big operation, just a collection of local farmers who live and work in the same neighborhood. Biren’s house is where we get together to talk about the business side of things. Most of our actual work happens in the ponds and the fields, which is where we prefer to be anyway. Farming in Sonitpur has its ups and downs, especially with the changing seasons. We do not have any corporate slogans or a polished image. We are just people with dirt under our fingernails and a lot of practical experience. This company was formed so we could help each other out with supplies and finding buyers for what we produce. It is much easier to handle the paperwork when we do it as one group. We have lived in Pabhoi all our lives, so we know every inch of the land. We do not try to be anything we are not. We just focus on the fish and the crops and try to make sure we can sustain ourselves. It is a very grounded way of life, and we are quite content with it.
