Grameen Harit Kranti Mahila Farmer Producer Company Limited

This is a group of women from around the Singhpur and Karma area. We decided to get together to help each other with the farming stuff. Our office is based at Kashinarh Mahato’s place, he’s the son of Late Rameshwarmahato. It’s a quiet spot in the village. Most of us have been farming our whole lives, just like our parents did. We deal with whatever the season brings, whether it’s rice or local vegetables. It helps to have a name for what we do, but really, we’re just neighbors. We share what we know about the soil and the seeds. Sometimes the rain doesn't come when it should, and that's when being a group really helps us stay afloat. We aren't trying to be some big corporate entity. We just want to make sure the women in our village get a fair shake when it's time to sell what we grow. It’s hard work, and your hands stay dirty most of the week. We meet up at the house in Singhpur to talk about the accounts and what needs doing next. There’s no fancy office furniture, just some chairs and a lot of talk about the weather. We’re just trying to keep the land productive in our own small way here in Karma. It's about staying on the farm and making it work for our families. Having each other now makes a big difference in the long run. We take it one day at a time.
