Talai Government Senior Secondary School

If you walk down Daslehra Road in the Tallai Bazaar area, you will find our school right there at A-01. Being in the middle of a bazaar means there is always something going on outside the gates. You hear the local buses and the shopkeepers opening up while the students are lining up for their morning prayers. Since this is a government senior secondary school, we get a lot of older students coming in from all over the Bilaspur district. The rooms are basic, with wooden benches and blackboards that have seen a lot of chalk over the years. We have to keep an eye on the clock because the bazaar gets crowded in the afternoons. It can be a bit dusty when the wind picks up off the road, but the students don't seem to mind much. Most of the staff has been here for years, so we know most of the families in Tallai pretty well. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that, we just open the doors every morning and teach what is in the books. Some days are harder than others, especially when the weather gets really hot or when exams are coming up. We just try to keep the roof in good shape and the water tanks full. It is a busy place, but it is a necessary part of the community here in this part of Himachal Pradesh.
