Mody School

Lachhmangarh is a quiet kind of place in Sikar, and our school sits right there in the middle of that landscape. The weather gets really hot during the summer months, so the shade under the trees on campus is where everyone wants to be. The buildings are quite solid and have been around for a while. You can tell people have been walking these same floors for years because the stone steps are a little worn down in the center. Inside Mody School, it’s mostly the sound of voices and the occasional scraping of chairs. We have a lot of space, which is nice because it doesn't feel cramped even when everyone is here. The staff tends to stay busy with the small things, like fixing a loose desk or updating the attendance registers. It is a very normal way of life here. We see the same faces every day and the routine doesn't change much from week to week. In the evenings, the sun sets over the Sikar horizon and the whole place gets a bit of a golden tint. It’s a good time to walk around and make sure everything is locked up. We don't try to make it look like something it isn't. It’s a school in a small Rajasthan town, with all the dust and the hard work that comes with that. There is always a bit of wind blowing through the open gates.
