Goenka Public School is right there on the Sikar Lachhmangarh Road. Most of us here are used to the wind blowing across the road and the sound of trucks passing by all day. It is a busy spot in Lachhmangarh but once you step inside the gates, it gets a bit quieter. We spend a lot of time just keeping the place running, honestly. There is always some desk that needs fixing or a classroom that needs a new bulb. The kids come in from all over Sikar and it gets loud pretty fast in the mornings. You can see the old trees near the boundary walls that have been there forever. We do not have fancy carpets or anything like that. It is just brick walls, concrete floors, and a lot of chalk dust everywhere. Some days are long, especially when the heat hits in the afternoon. We mostly just focus on getting through the lessons and making sure everyone stays out of trouble during the breaks. You will often find a few stray bicycles leaned up against the main wall because the rack is full. It is not a perfect place, but it is where we are every day. We know the shopkeepers down the road and they know us. It is just a regular part of the neighborhood here. We try to keep the garden patches green, but the Rajasthan sun makes it hard work. It is just a school where people work and kids learn their bits.
