We spend most of our time here at No.147 on Vepery High Road. If you know Periamet, you know it’s the place for leather. Our building is right in the middle of all that activity. Every morning we open up and start checking the stock that came in. It gets pretty loud outside with the traffic and the other shops nearby. We handle different kinds of leather, mostly raw stuff that people need for making shoes or bags. It’s a dusty job sometimes and the smell of the hides is something you just get used to after a few days. We’ve been at this spot for a while now. The office isn't anything fancy, just some desks and shelves filled with samples. We mostly talk to people who have been coming to us for years. Sometimes they just drop by for a tea and to see what we have on the racks. It’s just us doing the work, keeping track of orders on paper and making sure things get loaded onto the trucks correctly. There’s always someone moving bundles around or checking the thickness of a piece. We don't really do big advertisements or anything like that. People around here know where we are. If the shutters are up, we’re working. It’s a straightforward way to spend the day, just dealing with the material and the people who need it. We like the neighborhood even with the noise.
