Vedanta Creations Pvt. Ltd. is on the ground floor of Kewal Industrial Estate, unit number 50. Lower Parel West is a very busy part of Mumbai, and being in an industrial estate means there is always something going on. You can hear the sounds of machinery from the neighboring units and the shouting of workers loading trucks. Our space is quite large but it’s filled up with tables and materials. Since we’re on the ground floor, it’s easy for us to move things in and out, which is a big help for the deliveries. The floor is just plain concrete and the walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we don’t mind the look. It feels like a place where work actually happens. We have a small office area blocked off with some glass partitions, but most of the action takes place out on the main floor. We spend our days designing and putting things together. It can get quite hot in the summer because the ventilation isn't the best, so we have a lot of big pedestal fans blowing all day long. We usually eat our lunch together at one of the worktables. It’s a very casual environment for the staff. We don’t have a fancy lobby or a big sign out front. People just know where we are. It’s a gritty, busy place to work.
