Regal Carpet House

Station Road is always busy with people coming and going from the trains. Regal Carpet House is right there in the middle of it in Mulla Talab. It’s an old building, and the walls are a bit uneven, but it holds the weight of the carpets well enough. We’ve got stacks of them everywhere. It’s mostly just me and one other guy working here most days. We spend a lot of time unrolling rugs and then rolling them back up when someone decides they don’t like the shade of red. It’s good exercise, I guess. The front door squeaks a bit when it's raining, but we haven't gotten around to oiling it yet. We don't have any big signs or bright lights. Most people find us because they live nearby or they're walking home from the station. We sell stuff that’s meant to be used, not just looked at. Sturdy things that can handle kids and pets. We have a small back room where we keep the overstock and some old tools for cleaning. Sometimes the dust from the street gets in, so we have to sweep the entrance every morning. It’s a simple setup. We don't bother with fancy displays. If you want to see a carpet, we just throw it on the floor so you can walk on it. That’s the best way to tell if it’s any good. It gets cold in the winter because the draft comes under the door, so we usually wear extra sweaters while we work.
