Indian Zaika Family Restaurant

Our restaurant is tucked away in Sangli, specifically behind the Dr Nitwane Hospital. We share the location with the Snowden Icecream Parlour, which is a bit of a landmark for people in this part of town. It is a bit of an interesting mix, having a full family restaurant and an ice cream place in the same spot, but it works out well for the kids who come in with their parents. We are also situated right across from the SP office, so we get a fair amount of people from the government buildings stopping by for their lunch or tea. The atmosphere here is pretty relaxed and we don't try to make it something it isn't. We have tables set up for large families, and the place usually gets quite loud on the weekends when people bring their whole group out for a big meal together. The kitchen stays busy from early in the morning until quite late at night. We don't have any fancy uniforms or a big marketing strategy. We just open up the doors every morning and start the cooking. Sometimes the wait for a table gets a bit long on Sunday evenings, but people don't seem to mind standing around outside and chatting for a bit. We’ve been here long enough that we know most of the hospital staff and the officers from across the road by their first names. It’s a steady kind of life, managing the kitchen and making sure the water is always cold.
