Vasavi College

We are located right in the middle of things here at Vasavi College. If you know Salem, you probably know the Kandaswarna Mega Mall area on Saradha College Road. It’s a bit of a strange place for a college, being inside a mall complex and all, but it works for us. Most mornings, you see the students arriving just as the shops are starting to open their shutters. It’s pretty busy around Fairlands, especially with all the traffic coming through. We don’t have a giant campus with big rolling fields or anything like that. Instead, we have these rooms tucked away where the classes happen. It gets quite noisy outside sometimes, but you get used to the sounds of the city and the shoppers. I’ve worked here for a while now and I’ve seen so many kids come through these hallways. They usually grab a snack at one of the nearby stalls after they finish up for the day. The mall is a landmark, so nobody ever gets lost trying to find us. We just keep things simple and try to get through the syllabus. The classrooms are basic, nothing too fancy, just desks and boards and the usual stuff you’d expect. Sometimes the elevators are slow, so everyone just takes the stairs. It’s just a normal part of life here in this corner of Tamil Nadu. We don't try to be something we aren't, we just provide a place for people to learn.
