Woodco Handicrafts is tucked away in Sheopuri Mandi, right by Pul Kambohan. If you walk past, you’ll likely hear the sound of sanding and cutting before you even see our sign. Our shop is full of wood shavings and the scent of sawdust hangs in the air all day. It gets on your clothes and in your hair, but we don’t mind it much. We have been working here for a long time, and the building has seen better days, honestly. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, and the light bulbs flicker sometimes when the machines are all running at once. We aren't trying to be some big corporate entity; we are just a bunch of guys working with our hands. Every piece we make has some small quirks because that’s just how it goes when you’re not a machine. We spend our lunch breaks sitting on the wooden benches outside, watching the carts go by toward the bridge. It’s a hectic place to work, but it feels like home to us. Sometimes customers come in with specific ideas, and we just sketch them out on a scrap of wood to see if it will work. We don’t have fancy brochures or a front desk person. You just walk in and talk to whoever isn't holding a saw at that moment. We hope to stay here as long as the wood keeps coming.
