About Human Handicrafts – Art & Craft in Saharanpur
Human Handicrafts is on the second floor of Ali Market. It’s right near Vijay and sits opposite the government field. If you look out our windows, you can often see people playing cricket or just walking around the field. To get to us, you have to walk up the stairs of the market, which can be a bit narrow when it’s busy. Once you’re inside, it’s full of things people have made by hand. We have piles of different items and we try to keep them organized, but it’s hard when new stuff is always coming in. It’s not a polished boutique. It smells a bit like wood and fabric and old paper. We spend our days unpacking crates and talking to the people who bring us their work. Sometimes we just sit and drink tea while looking at the field across the way. The market is always noisy with people shouting and bikes going by, but being on the second floor makes it feel a little bit separate. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. We just show the things we have to whoever walks up the stairs. It’s a simple business. We like the things we sell because you can tell a person actually spent time making them. That’s enough for us to keep the shop going every day.
