You can find us right on 62 Feet Road, just across from Janta Palace. It’s a lively part of Dhobiwala. New Royal Handicrafts is a place where things are still made by hand for the most part. It’s not a big factory with robots. We have benches and tools and a lot of materials stacked up in the corners. The shop floor is usually covered in scraps from whatever we were working on that morning. It’s a bit messy, but that’s how you know work is happening. Being opposite Janta Palace means there’s always people walking by. Some stop in to look at the carvings or the wood pieces. We don't have a big marketing plan. Most people find us because they live nearby or they heard about us from a neighbor. The air smells like wood and polish. It’s hard work on the hands, but it’s what we know how to do. We’ve been at this spot for a good while. The road gets busy with cars and rickshaws, but inside it’s just the sound of chisels and hammers. It’s a simple business. We try to keep the quality where it should be without making a big fuss about it. 62 Feet Road is a good place to be. It keeps us connected to the neighborhood. We just keep working and hope the things we make last a long time. It is hard work but we enjoy the results.
