About Shri Durga Handicrafts – Art & Craft in Saharanpur
Shri Durga Handicrafts is tucked away on Abdul Salam Road in the Qutub Sher area. If you know the road, you know it’s always full of people and bikes. Our shop is right in the middle of all that. We make different kinds of handicrafts, mostly things people use in their homes or for gifts. It’s a family-run thing, and my younger brother usually handles the customers while I stay in the back where we do the packing. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but we never seem to find the time to actually do it. We have boxes stacked up to the ceiling sometimes, which makes the place feel a bit small. It gets hot in the afternoons, so we have a couple of old fans that make a lot of noise but don't do much else. We don't use any fancy computers for our work; we just have a desk with a lot of paper on it. People from the neighborhood stop by to chat even if they aren't buying anything. We know everyone on Abdul Salam Road by now. It’s not a high-end boutique, just a place where we work hard and hope for the best. Sometimes we stay late to finish a big order, and we just order some food from the place next door. It’s a decent life here and it keeps us busy.
