Shivani Handicrafts

Our workshop for Shivani Handicrafts is located in Samrat Vikram Colony. It’s quite near Raiwala, so it’s not too hard to find if you know the area. We do a lot of our work right here. There’s usually dust on the floors and tools sitting on the tables because we are always in the middle of making something. The light in Samrat Vikram Colony is actually pretty good in the mornings, which helps when we are looking at small details. We don’t have a big staff, just a few of us who like working with our hands. Sometimes the place gets messy with all the materials lying around, but that’s just part of how handicrafts go. We’ve been near Raiwala for a long time, and the locals know us. We don't really do much advertising or anything. Most people just hear about us through word of mouth. It’s a quiet life, mostly. We sit, we work, and we see what we can finish by the end of the day. It’s not always perfect, and sometimes a piece doesn't turn out quite right, so we just start over. That’s just the reality of it. We like being in this part of town. It feels like home. There is a certain pace to things here that suits us just fine. If you wander near Raiwala and look for Samrat Vikram Colony, you’ll find us eventually. We don't have a big neon sign, just the sounds of tools hitting the workbenches. It is a slow way to make a living, but it feels a lot better than sitting in a generic office all day.
