Shilpi Handicrafts

Shilpi Handicrafts is tucked away in Qutubsher, on Abdul Salam Road. If you walk down the street, you can usually hear the sound of work being done long before you actually see our sign. This area has a lot of history with people making things by hand, and we are just one small part of that tradition. Our space is filled with the smell of raw materials and the fine dust that comes from carving or shaping things throughout the day. It’s not a clean, modern store with glass cases; it’s a place where things are actually being made. There are piles of wood or fabric or whatever we happen to be working on at the time. We don't have a big sales team or anything like that. It’s mostly just us and the artisans who have been doing this for many years. Sometimes the shop feels a bit cluttered because we hate throwing anything away that might be useful for a project later on. We spend a lot of time just sitting and working on small details that most people might not even notice. It’s slow work, and you can’t really rush it if you want the final result to look right. People come in to look around, and we usually just let them browse while we keep working. It’s a quiet sort of life, focusing on the craft rather than trying to be some big, famous corporation.
