S I Handicrafts is located right on the Rajwahe Ki Patri, along the canal road. It is a nice spot because you can see the water, although it gets quite dusty when the wind picks up. We have a workshop here where we make all kinds of handmade goods. There is usually the sound of saws or hammers going throughout the day. We are a small group of people, many of whom have been doing this kind of work since we were young. We learned from our fathers and uncles, so it is a bit of a tradition for us. The workshop is filled with raw materials like wood and fabric, along with the tools we use every day. It is not a neat and tidy place, but we know exactly where everything is kept. We do not have a big store with glass windows. If you want to see what we make, you just come to the workshop and we show you the pieces we are currently working on. Sometimes we sit on the bank of the canal during our tea breaks to get some fresh air. It is hard work and our hands are often calloused or stained, but we like creating things from scratch. We don't have any big corporate goals. We just want to keep making quality items and hope there is always a market for handmade crafts. We just keep working.
