If you go to Nagal in Saharanpur, you might find us at Sanjay Kumar’s place. He’s the son of Indra Dutt Tyagi, and that’s where Khetiharnagal Farmer Producer Company Limited has its base. We are a small group of local farmers. Most of us have been working the ground since we were kids. Saharanpur is a good place for farming, but it still has its share of headaches. We started this group because we wanted to have a bit more say in how we sell our produce and buy our supplies. It’s not a big corporate setup. We usually just sit around and discuss things in simple terms. We don't have a big office with air conditioning or anything like that. We have the fields and the sky. Sometimes the crops are great, and sometimes we lose a lot to the weather. That’s just the life we chose. We try to share the burden so no one person has to deal with the bad times alone. Everyone in the group brings something different, maybe some knowledge about new tools or just an extra pair of hands. We don't spend money on advertising because we don't need to. People around here know who we are and what we do. We are just Khetiharnagal, and we are just trying to keep our traditions alive while getting by in the modern world. It is hard work, but it is the only thing we have ever really wanted to do.
