About Allied India Handicrafts – Art & Craft in Saharanpur
If you go down Abdul Salam Road in Qutab Shar, you will find us at Allied India Handicrafts. The shop is full of things we’ve collected over time, and it smells a bit like old wood and dust. We don't have fancy glass displays or bright spotlights. Most of the stuff is just sitting on wooden shelves or stacked in the corners. We spend a lot of our time unwrapping items and checking for any cracks or issues. It can be a slow process because there is always so much to look at. The street outside is usually pretty loud with rickshaws and people talking, but inside it stays relatively calm. We have a small desk where we do all the billing by hand in a big ledger book. We haven't really switched over to anything digital because the old way works fine for us. We know where everything is, even if it looks like a bit of a mess to someone walking in for the first time. Sometimes we spend the whole afternoon just rearranging one corner to make room for something new. We don’t have a marketing team or anyone telling us how to sell. We just show people what we have if they ask. It’s a quiet life on Abdul Salam Road, surrounded by things that people made with their hands. We just keep the door open and wait to see who stops by.
