We started Maudiguda Producer Company Limited right here in our village in Rayagada. Salema Minaka’s place in Gadiseskhal is where we keep our stuff and meet up after we finish in the fields. It’s a small village and everyone knows everyone, so it made sense to group up. Farming in Kolnara can be tough, especially when you’re trying to deal with buyers from the city who don’t always understand how things are here. We aren't some big corporation with suits; we are just the same people you see every day at the local market. We grow what we’ve always grown, but now we try to organize it a bit so we don’t lose money. Sometimes the paperwork is a headache, and we spend more time than we’d like just trying to fill out forms, but that’s part of it now. We don’t have any fancy mission statements or anything like that. We just want to be able to sell our produce for a price that lets us buy what we need for our homes. There are plenty of days when things don't go right, like when the rain doesn't stop or a machine breaks down. We just deal with it together. It’s a simple way of life, and we aren't looking to change that, just to make it a little more stable for all the families involved. We focus on the land and the crops.
