Sikaramandaagro Farmer Producer Company Limited is based out of Pushpa Devi’s house at number 1 in Sirawal. We are deep in the countryside and our lives revolve around the farming seasons. This company was formed to help the farmers in Sirawal get a better handle on their business. Pushpa Devi helps keep everything in order at her place. It isn't a professional office like you see in the cities. It is just a home where we gather to talk about the land. We spend a lot of time discussing things like the price of diesel for the pumps or how to get the crops to the market before they spoil. In Sirawal, everyone is a farmer so we all understand the problems. We don't have any fancy mission statements. We just want to work the ground and make sure we can feed our families. Sometimes the harvest is great and sometimes the pests get to the plants, but we keep going. The company helps us buy things in bulk which saves a bit of money for everyone. We do the paperwork on a wooden table in the corner of the room. It’s quiet in the village most of the time, except when the tractors are moving. We are just local folks working together to make the agricultural life a little bit more manageable for everyone involved in our small group here. Some days the paperwork is a headache, but we get it done.
