Panchayat (Degree) College, Godiput

This is the degree college in Godiput, situated in the Garhmatiapada area of Puri. We deal with older students here who are working hard on their degrees. The campus is a bit spread out and there are big trees everywhere providing shade. It’s a quiet place mostly, except when classes let out and everyone is heading to the canteen or the main gate. We have different departments for various subjects like arts and science. The office handles all the paperwork, which there is always a lot of. It’s a bit old-fashioned in how we do things here. We still use a lot of paper ledgers and hand-written notes. The professors have their own rooms but they are usually out in the halls talking to students between lectures. Being in Puri, we get some very humid days where the ceiling fans just move the warm air around. We’ve been part of this community for many years. People from all the nearby villages send their kids here after they finish high school. It’s a big step up for them. We don't have fancy computer labs with the latest everything, but the library has enough books to keep everyone busy for their exams. It's just a regular college trying to do right by the local youth. We open up early and stay open until the last bus leaves the area in the evening. There isn't much more to it than that.
