About Vinit Dodamani Photography – Photography in Pune
I spend a lot of my time stuck in Pune traffic with a heavy bag of lenses sitting in the passenger seat. Being a photographer like Vinit Dodamani Photography means my life is mostly lived through a small viewfinder or a computer screen. I don’t have a big fancy studio with white walls; I mostly work on the move. Whether it’s an event or just someone needing a decent photo, I’m usually there early to check the light. The weather here can be a bit tricky, especially when the clouds move in and ruin the shadows I was planning for. I’ve dropped a lens cap more times than I can count, and my back usually aches by the end of a long shoot. There’s a lot of waiting around for the right moment, then a lot of rushing to make sure I don't miss it. Afterward, I go home and sit at my desk for hours, drinking cold tea and clicking through hundreds of files. It’s a lot of repetitive work, but seeing a clear shot at the end makes it feel alright. People think it’s just pushing a button, but it’s more about not tripping over cables or making sure the battery doesn't die at the wrong time. I keep my gear in a cupboard in my room and spend way too much money on memory cards. It’s just me doing my thing here in the city.
