Vandan Sweets

Vandan Sweets is located right by Vishrantwadi Shivaji Park on Dr M B Raut Road. It’s a place that smells like sugar and warm milk most of the morning. We start very early, before the sun is even up, to get the fresh batches ready for the day. It’s a lot of heavy stirring and watching the heat on the large burners. We don't have a huge staff, just a few of us who know how to handle the heavy trays and the delicate shapes. The display glass gets fingerprints on it all day long, so we are constantly wiping it down with a cloth. People stop by after work or when they are taking a walk in the park. It’s a simple shop. We don’t use any fancy industrial machines, mostly just large iron pans and our own hands. Sometimes we make too much of one thing and not enough of another, but that's just how it goes with handmade stuff. The neighborhood around Shivaji Park is usually lively, which is nice to see from the front door. We’ve been at this address for a long time, and the floor tiles are a bit worn out and cracked from all the walking over the years. We don't have any big advertisements or posters. People just know us because we’ve been a part of the street for so long. It’s a bit cramped when it gets crowded, especially during the festive times when everyone wants something at once. We just keep serving as fast as we can.
