Puneri Misala

Our shop is number two in the Rasta Peth Bhaji Mandai area. We are right across from Venkateshwara House, which makes us easy to spot if you’re in that part of Pune. Rasta Peth is always full of life, especially with the vegetable market right there. We spend our mornings getting the misal ready. The smell of the hot spices and the frying onions usually fills the whole street by 8 AM. It’s a small place, so it gets crowded very quickly. People stand around the counters or sit on the few stools we have available. We don’t do anything fancy with the presentation. It’s just a bowl of spicy misal with some pav on the side. We’ve been using the same spice mix for years, and we don’t plan on changing it. The floor is made of old tiles and we have to sweep it constantly because of all the feet coming in and out. Sometimes the noise from the market outside is so loud we have to shout a bit to hear the orders. It’s a busy, messy, and very local way to run a business. We know the other shopkeepers around here and we all look out for each other. It is just how things work in Rasta Peth. If you want a quick, spicy bite without any drama, this is where we are every day.
