Sweet Chariot Cafe

The smell of sugar and baking bread usually hits you before you even walk through the door here on Sultawind Road. We are tucked away near Jaspal Nagar and Koregaon Road, which gets a lot of foot traffic in the mornings. We spend most of our time at the back, putting together cakes or filling the glass cases with fresh rolls. It is a small space, so it gets crowded quickly if more than three people are standing at the counter. We have a few small tables, but they are mostly used by people waiting for their takeaway boxes. The bell on the door rings constantly, and we are usually busy tying up boxes with that thin white string. Sometimes we get the orders mixed up when it is really busy, but we try to fix it right then and there. The floor gets a bit sticky from the frosting and spilled tea, so we are always cleaning up. We do not have any big fancy signs, just the ones in the window showing what we baked today. In the evenings, we often run out of the most popular items, and the shelves look a bit bare. It is just a local neighborhood spot where the staff knows most of the people who walk in by their first names. We just keep the ovens running and try to make sure everything is wrapped up properly before it leaves the shop.
