Surajbhai Kisandas Katariya English Medium School

Being situated right on the Pune Solapur Highway means there is always a bit of noise from the passing trucks and buses. You eventually get used to the sound after working at Surajbhai Kisandas Katariya English Medium School for a few months. We are based here in Daund, and the main gate is easy to spot from the road. It is a convenient location for parents who are commuting to work in the mornings. Inside the walls, it is actually a lot quieter than the street outside. We have several classrooms for the different age groups. Some of the ceiling fans in the older rooms make a bit of a clicking sound when they are on high speed. We keep all the extra chalk and markers locked in a big metal cupboard in the office. It isn't a massive place, just a normal school doing the daily work. The morning assembly is usually when things are most quiet and orderly. After that, the day gets a bit more hectic with kids moving between rooms and books being left on desks. We have to sweep the floors quite often because of all the dust that blows in from the highway. Most of the staff members bring their own tiffin from home. We usually sit together in the small break area near the back. Daund is the kind of town where you recognize most people on the street. It’s a simple setup we have here.
