Our place is located in the industrial estate at Parvati, right near where Kaka Halwai Sweets is situated on the Pune Satara Road. Being in an industrial zone means there is a lot of heavy lifting and trucks moving around all the time. It is not the quietest place to work, that is for sure. We are at plots 15 and 16, and the space is mostly filled with equipment and containers for the food we handle. There is a lot of steel and concrete around us. The air usually smells like whatever is being cooked or processed nearby, which isn't always a bad thing. We spend our mornings checking the stock and the afternoons are usually for the harder physical work. It gets quite hot in here because of the machines, so we keep the fans running at full speed. Sometimes the paperwork gets piled up on the small desk in the corner and we have to spend a few hours just sorting through that whole mess. It’s a practical setup, meant for work rather than looking good. We don’t have fancy rugs or glass walls. Just the basic stuff needed to get the food items ready and out the door. The road outside is always dug up or under some kind of repair, which makes getting here a bit of a pain for the staff sometimes, but we manage somehow. We just keep our heads down and get the job done every single day.
