You can find our mill in Gavali Dhadge Nagar, over in the Fatima Nagar area of Wanowrie. It is a local shop where we spend our days grinding flour for the families nearby. The routine doesn't change much from day to day. We open up, check the grinders, and wait for the first customers to arrive with their cycles or bags. The sound of the flour mill is something everyone in the street is familiar with. It is a bit of a workout, moving the heavy sacks around all day. We have a few old wooden stools for people to sit on while they wait for their turn. The walls have a bit of a white coating from the flour dust that settles everywhere. We don't use any high-tech stuff, just the standard machines that have worked for us for years. Sometimes the stones need sharpening, which takes a bit of time and muscle. We try to get through the queue as quickly as possible, but you can't rush the machines too much or they overheat. People come in and talk about the weather or the price of grain while we work. It’s a friendly enough place, though we are usually too busy to talk for long. It is just a normal, hardworking shop in a busy part of town. We stay here until the evening when the light fades and the last customer heads home with their fresh atta for the night.
