Satvik Thali Restaurant

Our place is Satvik Thali Restaurant, and we are situated at Survey No 1528, Niwara Niwas. You can find us on Perugate Road in Sadashiv Peth, Pune. We are very close to the Tilak Smarak Mandir, which is a big landmark in this area. Sadashiv Peth is an old part of the city, and the streets can be narrow and confusing if you aren’t used to them. We’ve been in this building for quite some time. It’s a traditional setup. We serve thalis, so there is always a lot of small bowls to wash. The kitchen is always steaming and smelling like spices. It’s a lot of hard work, especially during the lunch hours when everyone from the nearby offices comes in at once. We don’t have any fancy air conditioning, just some fans to keep the air moving. Sometimes it gets a bit warm, but people don't seem to mind much. We just do things the old way here. We source our vegetables from the local market every morning. Some days the spinach is good, other days it's not, so we change what we make. It’s a very simple operation. My wife helps with the accounts and I stay in the back mostly. We’ve lived in Pune all our lives, so we know how people like their food here. It’s just a local thali place. We just try to keep the rice hot and the plates full for every guest.
