Sakhariya Brothers

Our spot is at 868 Budhwar Peth. This part of town is always packed with people and shops selling all kinds of things. It’s one of those old buildings where the walls are thick but the rooms are small. Sakhariya Brothers has been in this location for many years. We deal with whatever comes our way, mostly wholesale stuff. The street outside is so narrow that two cars can barely pass, so we usually see people on foot or on bicycles. Inside, it’s a bit dark because the windows are small and high up. We use a lot of tube lights to keep it bright enough to see the inventory. There are usually three of us here, and we spend most of the day on our feet. The floor is old stone and stays cool in the summer. We don't have a lot of decorations. Just a few calendars on the wall and a small shrine in the corner where we light incense every morning. It’s a very traditional way of working. We know most of our customers by name because they’ve been buying from us since my father’s time. Sometimes we sit on the wooden stools outside and watch the crowd go by. It’s a busy life, but it’s what we know. We don't try to be anything we aren't. Our family has been in Budhwar Peth for three generations now, so we know every corner of this neighborhood.
