Sai Chapati Center

Sai Chapati Center is tucked away in the Sant Krupa Housing Society in the Chikhali area. It is part of More Wasti which is a place where a lot of working people live. Making chapatis sounds like a simple job but when you have to make hundreds of them every day it really takes a toll. We spend hours kneading dough and rolling it out by hand. The tawa stays hot for most of the day and the room gets quite warm. We are not a big restaurant with a long menu. We just do this one thing and try to do it right every time. The housing society is a nice place to be because we know the people who live nearby. Many of them stop by after work to pick up their rotis so they don't have to cook at home. The 412114 area has grown a lot lately and there are more houses and shops than there used to be. We keep our space clean and simple. There are no fancy decorations or big advertisements. We just have our stove and our workspace. Sometimes the flour gets everywhere and we have to spend a lot of time sweeping it up at the end of the shift. It is honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until evening. We are just glad to be a small part of the Chikhali neighborhood.
