You’ll find us inside the Radha Krishna Textile Market in Kondhwa Budruk. It’s a very loud and busy place with people buying fabric all day long. We tucked ourselves into a corner near the main entrance. We’ve been here since the market opened up. It gets very hot in here because there isn't much breeze. We have two big fans going all the time, but they just move the warm air around. We make our sweets in a small space at the back. It’s a bit cramped, but we make it work. Most of our customers are the shopkeepers from the market who want a quick snack during their break. We also get people who are tired from shopping and need a bit of sugar. We don't do any big advertising. The smell of the frying snacks usually brings people in. The floor is concrete and we have to wash it down every night. Sometimes the drain gets clogged with flour, and we have to spend an hour fixing it. We don't have fancy boxes. We use plain plastic bags or basic containers. It’s a simple operation. My cousin helps me with the accounts, but mostly we just focus on the cooking. The market stays open late, so we do too. It's a lot of work, but we've been doing it for years now. The textile market is a maze, so we tell people to look for the blue gate. Once you find that, we are just a few steps away.
