Rath Sagar Sweets

This shop is located on the stretch between Hadapsar and Bhandarkar Road. We’ve got the usual glass displays filled with different kinds of sweets and savory snacks. It’s a lot of work keeping everything filled up and looking okay throughout the day. We make almost everything in the back kitchen ourselves. It’s a small room and it gets pretty stuffy and hot when the milk is boiling on the stove for hours on end. You can usually smell the ghee and the sugar from all the way down the street. We get a lot of people coming in for big boxes of sweets during the festival seasons, and then the whole place becomes a real madhouse. Most days though, it's just regular folks from the neighborhood picking up a few pieces of something sweet after they finish work. The lights inside are those bright white tubes that make everything look a bit sharp. We don't have a big marketing plan or any corporate rules. We just open the doors in the morning, set out the fresh trays, and wait for people to come in. The counter is a bit scratched up and worn out from all the years of sliding boxes and change across it. We try our best to keep the place tidy, but with flour and sugar around, it's a bit of a constant battle with the broom. It’s a family-run kind of place, so you’ll see the same couple of people behind the register every single day.
