Ramprasad Best Chiwada

Ramprasad Best Chiwada has been operating out of Bhawani Peth at 830/1 for a long time. The building is quite old and has these thick walls that keep it a bit cooler than the street outside. We specialize in making chiwada, so the whole place smells like fried curry leaves and hot oil most of the time. There are huge metal drums filled with the snack and we spend the day scooping it into different sized bags. The scales we use are old but they still work fine for weighing out a half kilo or a full kilo for the customers who walk in. A lot of people come here because their parents used to shop here, so we see many familiar faces. The floor is uneven in some places and the paint on the door frame is peeling off, but it doesn't seem to bother anyone. We don't do any delivery, so people have to come down to Bhawani Peth if they want a bag. Sometimes the street gets blocked by trucks unloading goods, and it gets very cramped around the entrance. We have a small counter where the money is handled and a few stacks of newspapers used for extra packing. It is a simple operation where we focus on one thing and keep doing it the same way we always have. The hours are long but the work is steady and the routine keeps us busy.
