Ramnath Sweet Farsan

Our shop is tucked away in Satav Wadi, right on the Pune Saswad Road. It is spread across two units, Shop No 4 and 5, so we have a bit of room to keep all the different snacks we make. Every morning, the smell of frying starts early. We make different kinds of farsan and sweets right here. If you walk by Sai Nagar in the afternoon, you can usually smell the besan and the sugar syrup. It is a busy road, so we get a lot of people stopping by while they are traveling. The counters are always full of plastic bags and containers. We don't use fancy packaging, just the regular stuff that keeps the food fresh. My family helps out with the packing and talking to customers. Some people come in just for a small packet of sev, while others buy kilos of sweets for a wedding or a party. The floors can get a little bit sticky from the sugar, but we clean up as we go. It is a lot of standing on your feet all day long. We have been in Sr No 19 for a good amount of time now, and we know most of the neighbors. It is just a regular local shop where we try to make things that taste like they should. Nothing more, nothing less. We just keep the stoves going and the trays full for whoever stops in.
