Rajkamal Sweets

You can find us over in Dhanori, right at the 22nd Cross on Rajagopal Ngr Main Road. We are in the 4th Phase at Shriram Palace, specifically Shop No 1. It’s a busy corner, especially since we are opposite Road No 10 in Vidyanagar, which people also call Tingrenagar. The shop smells like sugar and frying snacks most of the day. We start very early, way before the sun is up, to get the milk boiling and the sweets ready for the morning rush. The counters are always getting smudged by kids looking at the trays of barfi and jalebi. It’s a bit of a squeeze when there’s a festival coming up and everyone wants their boxes at the same time. We try to keep things organized, but when it’s busy, there are bags and boxes everywhere. The address is a bit long to explain to people, so we usually just tell them to look for Shriram Palace and they find us easily enough. We’ve got the regular crowd who comes in for their daily samosa or a bit of something sweet after dinner. It’s not a quiet place, there’s always the sound of the metal spatula hitting the kadhai and people chatting while they wait. We often run out of change by midday, so we’re always asking the other shopkeepers to swap some notes for us. It’s a friendly enough spot, even when the traffic outside on the main road is backed up.
