If you walk down Gauri Ali in Guruwar Peth, you’ll find us. We are at Sector 23, Survey No 432. The shop is small, but we make it work. Every morning starts very early, way before the sun is even up, because the sweets take time to prep. The smell of frying and sugar syrup usually fills the whole street by seven. It’s a busy area with a lot of old buildings and narrow lanes, so it feels very traditional. We have the big metal trays lined up with all the different treats we’ve made that day. It gets really crowded during the festival seasons, and sometimes the line goes out onto the road. We don't use fancy packaging or anything; it’s mostly just paper boxes and bags for the customers. The floor can get a bit sticky by the afternoon, so we’re always cleaning up. We have regulars who have been coming here since they were kids, and now they bring their own children to buy something. It’s nice to see the same faces over the years. We just focus on making things the way they’ve always been made. There isn't much space to sit inside, so most people just grab what they want and head out. It’s a loud, sweet-smelling, and busy little corner of the Peth, and we wouldn't have it any other way. It is home for us and our neighbors.
