You can find Purohit Sweets out on the Phursungi Chakan Talegaon Road. It’s a major road, so there’s always a lot of traffic passing by our front door at all hours. The noise of the trucks is something you just learn to live with after a while. We spend a lot of time in the back of the shop, getting things ready for the day. It’s a basic setup. We have our cooking area and then the front where we keep the sweets in glass cases. The dust from the Chakan Talegaon Road is a constant battle, so we are always wiping down the counters with a cloth. We get a mix of people coming in—commuters, local workers, and people living in Phursungi. It’s not a fancy place by any means. We have some basic lighting and a few fans to keep the air moving when it gets stuffy. We don't have a big mission statement or anything like that. We just show up, make the sweets, and hope people like them enough to come back again next week. There are days when it’s slow and we just sit and watch the cars go by, and then there are days when we can’t keep up with the demand. That’s just the nature of this business on a busy road. We’ve been here long enough to know the rhythms of the traffic.
