Puneri Sweets Corner

Puneri Sweets Corner is right there in Wagholi, sitting on a corner that gets a lot of wind and dust from the road. We are constantly wiping down the counters because of it. Wagholi has grown so much lately, but our little corner feels mostly the same. We have these big metal trays filled with various items, and we keep them covered with cloths when the door is open. The staff here is just a few of us who have lived nearby for years. We don't wear uniforms or anything like that, just our regular clothes and aprons. In the mornings, we listen to the traffic start up while we prep the kitchen. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting heavy sacks of flour and sugar. We don't have many machines to help us. Everything is done by hand, from mixing to packing the boxes. Sometimes we make too much of one thing and not enough of another, and we just have to deal with it. Customers are usually pretty patient if we tell them to wait five minutes for a fresh batch. We don't try to be anything we aren't. It’s just a corner shop where we work hard and hope people like what they buy. When the sun goes down, we pack up what is left and head home to our families. It’s honest work, and it pays the bills for us.
