About Prashant Flour Mill – Food & Beverages in Pune
We've been here near Kusalkar Putala Chowk for a long time now. It’s a busy spot in Gokhalenagar. Most days start early before the sun gets too hot. People bring their bags of wheat or jowar and just wait. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to sit on the plastic chairs outside until it comes back. It's not fancy. The floor is always white with flour dust no matter how much we sweep it. My father started this and now I just keep the machines oiled. You can hear the hum from the street. Shivaji Co Operative Housing Society is right there, so we see the same faces every week. It’s honest work. Sometimes the bags are heavy and my back hurts by evening. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just know where we are in Ramoshivadi. The stones need sharpening every few weeks or the flour isn't right. I usually have tea from the stall across the road while the mill is running. It gets loud inside so we mostly talk with hand signals when the machines are on. It’s just how things go here. We try to keep things moving so no one has to wait too long. It’s just a small shop with two mills and a lot of grain sacks stacked up in the corner. We close up when the sun goes down and do it all again tomorrow.
